Their ancestor is the Newfoundland dog breed in Canada. Their daily job is to help fishermen pull fishing nets. Labrador is trained to jump from a boat into snow-covered water and pull a net to make it easier for fishermen to catch fish. They were brought home by British ships in the 1800s, and it was in England that their search instincts were further developed. They also become family dogs and make friends because they are gentle, affectionate and easy to train.
